27th May 2010

Today was the final day of FMP, so I left the editors to finish off editing while I put together all the work the group needed, this was:

1) Contact Details of everyone we used

2) Schedule of the whole of FMP

3) Logistics page

4) Documentary shot list - I wasnt meant to do this but I ended uo doing it

5)Location Recce

And I also finished off my documentary evaluation, so today was a productive day and everyone got their work in so i would say it was a success!!

25th May 2010

We had our last chance to interview someone from Upskill again today so I drove down to Derby again to meet the other owner of Upskill Frank Dunne, who is a twin of Mick. This was probably the best interview of the lot as they gave us a lot of time to set up the equipment and get the sound working and the shit ready.

Frank gave us very good answers and they were the sort we desperately needed for the documentary so we were extremly pleased!

Also they let us go back to the construction site so we could do some cutaway shots of the place as we didnt get to first time round.

21st May 2010

Today we interviewed our lecturer Joe Hibbert as he used to work with youth offenders and he gave us an insight into the stereotype and how wrong people can be. The interview was extremely helpful and that gave us more valuable footage for our documentary.

10th May 2010

Today we had an interview in Wolverhampton with Pauline Jones who works at Job Centre plus and she told us a little bit about the link between JCP and Carillion, it was sort of a wasted journey as she couldnt really help us with what we were looking for which annoyed myself and Chris Ross as we drove all that way for nothing really, so we decided to not use any of the footage we got from her.

7th May 2010

Today josh, Emily and I went to Derby to film at the company Upskill who specialise in offering courses to youth offenders and help them get qualifications to get jobs. I drove down and although it was hard to find we finally got their.

At the start we interviewed Mick Dunne who co-owns the company with his brother Frank, and we got a good long interview with him, only problem we had was the sound so after he had gone we realised that the microphone cable was no good so we couldnt use any of his footage.

The second interview we had was with one of the course instructors Trevor Wade and he went into detail about his personal feelings about the youths and the course and we got very good footage from him as he really knew what he was talking about.

The final interview was the big one as this was the youth offender called Matt Fretwell, he was very nervous at first so i tried to make him as comfortable as possible and we ended up getting a very good interview with him and some of the stuff he talked about would be perfect for our documentary.

6th May 2010

Today we had our first interview with one of our contacts

Anne Mulliner who works at Carillion, came in too talk to us about how Carillion help young offenders and what courses they offer.

I greeted her at the door and tried to make her feel comfortable but she was very confident as she has done this many times and the interview with her was very smooth and went well and i was very happy with the answers she gave and how the footage turned out.

27th April 2010

PITCH DAY!!!
I was extremely nervous before our pitch as the group didnt get a practice and i wasnt sure if we were all prepared so i was slightly concerned.

But when we started our pitch it just came together and I feel as a group we did extremely well, I thought I presented myself during the pitch as I knew what i was talking about and I was confident in what I was saying.

the feedback we got from the lecturers was excellent and they said our pitch was the best of the lot and the whole group should be extremely pleased. I was very pleased as i worked really hard to get all our contacts and put the pitch together as the producer so i was extremely happy with the outcome!!
